About the event

Whitehill & Bordon Community Trust (WBCT) are committed to supporting projects that enhance our community spaces and climate.

In the past 4 years we have planted 3 Fruit Tree Orchards, donated fruit trees to local schools and planted native hedgerows. Over 600 trees in total.

This year we are keen to offer a scheme for residents in the GU35 area, to enhance their own gardens. We have reserved 60 Apple Trees, from Southern Fruit Trees, a local grower and supplier that we have used in the past with fantastic results.

You will be able to collect your tree from Hogmoor Inclosure on Wed 14th February or Sunday 18th February. 12pm -1pm. We will also be running a short workshop on tree care on the day.

To help support this project and future projects we ask for a small donation of up to £5 when you collect your tree.

Fruit trees offer blossom in spring, a fantastic resource for wildlife and pollinators all year round, and even fruit to eat.

What’s more, a fruit tree makes a wonderful Valentines or family present!

The funding to deliver this project has been received from EHDC as part of the Grow Up programme and funding from the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

The trees are approximately two years old. 1.5 metres tall, growing to 2-2.5 metres when mature. On collection you will meet Neil from Southern Trees who will give you a short brief on how to plant and care for your tree.

Trees are a beneficial addition to most gardens, but in residential areas they are very important, helping with climate regulation and air filtration, and providing valuable habitats for wildlife. Trees, shrubs, and hedges offer nesting places and materials, food sources and cover for a great variety of creatures. With almost half of Britain’s ancient woodland having been destroyed in the last 50 years, the need for these habitats is greater than ever, and you can help by planting a tree in your garden.

So, what are you waiting for, book your tree now!
