Celebrating Community Spirit at the Hogmoor Spring into Health Duathlon

On May 10th, Hogmoor came alive with energy and enthusiasm as over 50 local residents gathered for the annual "Spring into Health" Duathlon. This event brought together runners and cyclists of all ages and abilities to take part in the Hogmoor 6 — a 2-kilometer run followed by a 4-kilometer bike ride. The day was a shining example of community spirit, health, and friendly competition, supported by volunteers and local sponsors.

A Day to Celebrate Health and Togetherness

The "Spring into Health" Duathlon has become a much-anticipated event in Hogmoor’s calendar. This year, the turnout was impressive, with more than 50 residents showing up with their bikes, ready to challenge themselves and enjoy the outdoors. The event’s format, combining a 2-kilometer run and a 4-kilometer bike ride, offers a manageable yet rewarding challenge for participants of varying fitness levels.

The day began with a warm welcome from Whitehill & Bordon Town Crier, Stu Morrison, who, despite being known for his quiet demeanor, delivered an encouraging opening speech. His presence underscored the event’s importance to the community and set a positive tone for the day.

The Course and Competition

The Hogmoor 6 course was designed to be accessible and enjoyable. The 2-kilometer run took participants through scenic trails and open spaces, providing a refreshing start. After completing the run, participants transitioned to their bikes for the 4-kilometer ride.

The friendly competition encouraged many to push their limits while fostering a sense of camaraderie.

Volunteers and Community Support

Behind the scenes, 12 dedicated volunteers ensured the event ran smoothly. They managed registration, guided participants along the course, provided water stations, and handled safety measures. Their commitment was vital to the success of the day, demonstrating how community involvement can make a big difference.

A "BIG THANKYOU" to Farnham Eye Care who the sponsored the event.

Awards and Recognition

Once the duathlon wrapped up, it was time for some well-deserved medal ceremonies! It was a fun day that really highlighted the spirit of community and the joy of joining in, rather than just focusing on competition.

The awards ceremony was a joyful occasion, with smiles and applause filling the air. It was a reminder that events like these build stronger communities by bringing people together around shared goals and healthy lifestyles.
