Community Generosity Delivers 600kg of Food for Whitehill & Bordon Community Trust Food Bank

The Whitehill & Bordon Community Trust Food Bank has received an incredible 600kg of food donations thanks to a successful month-long partnership between Tesco Bordon and FareShare.
Throughout August, Tesco Bordon invited customers to support local families by purchasing specially prepared donation bags containing the items most needed by the food bank. The response from shoppers was immediate, and their generosity continued throughout the entire month, resulting in a substantial collection of food that will make a real difference across our community.
As part of the initiative, food bank volunteers were also welcomed into the store on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays over a three-week period. This provided a valuable opportunity to meet local residents, raise awareness of the Trust's work, and explain how the food bank supports families facing financial hardship.
The donations will now go directly into the weekly food parcels provided by the Trust. Currently, the food bank supports around 80 local families, and the additional stock will help ensure essential food supplies are available for those who need them most.
A spokesperson for the Whitehill & Bordon Community Trust said:
"Six hundred kilos is a genuinely significant amount of food for a food bank our size, and it came from ordinary shoppers choosing to pick up an extra bag. We're grateful to every one of them. Particular thanks go to Dionne at the Tesco Bordon Store, who set the whole promotion up and made sure it ran smoothly from start to finish. It has made a real difference to the families we support every week."
